UHN has been ranked #2 in the world for the first time by Newsweek magazine. When UHN unites the best teams, talent and donors to create the world’s best care, this recognition is proof of what’s possible

Rising from #3 last year, Toronto General Hospital (TGH) is now second only to Mayo Clinic in the United States, making it the top universally accessible hospital in the world. TGH remains the #1 hospital in Canada and is the only Canadian hospital in the world rankings to crack the top 10, as it has for eight years in a row.

UHN’s Toronto Western Hospital also moved up to #7 in Canada, marking its third year in the Canadian top 10.

UHN’s Sprott Department of Surgery, Peter Munk Cardiac Centre and Ajmera Transplant Centre are among the world-leading programs that call TGH home but sustaining a world-class academic health sciences centre depends on the collective strength of every program and service UHN offers. An essential part of that collective is donor support which enables UHN to accelerate research, strengthen care and empower teams to transform health outcomes globally and prove what UHNITED truly means.

“Being recognized by Newsweek as the #2 hospital in the world is an honour, responsibility and true reflection of the dedication of our people and the unwavering support of our community,” says Julie Quenneville, CEO of UHN Foundation. “Philanthropy is the driving force behind this achievement, fuelling the breakthroughs, discoveries and innovation that enable UHN to continually push the boundaries of what is possible in health care in Canada and around the world.”
