On September 8, UHN Foundation proudly hosted the annual Rally for Rehab event presented by BMO. Raising more than $239,000 to support rehabilitation research, patient care, and innovative programs at UHN, Rally for Rehab was a huge success that showcased the incredible spirit of our community and the shared commitment to advancing rehabilitation care that UHN is known for.

The event, held at Toronto Rehab Rumsey Centre, brought together patients, families, healthcare workers and community members for an memorable day of unity and celebration. Participants came together to walk, run, and roll along the scenic route, raising vital funds to support UHN — ensuring that every patient has access to world-class rehab care that empowers them to regain their independence and thrive.

Among the participants was MPP Stephanie Bowman, who walked alongside patients and researchers for this important cause. “I’m so proud to have such an important institution in our community,” she said. “And I’m proud to be here with the foundation, who through this event, is making an incredible difference in so many lives. I want to congratulate all the participants and staff that came out today, they are a testament to the incredible power of fundraising and I’m thrilled to join them for this important cause.

Toronto Rehab is the largest adult rehabilitation hospital in Canada, and one of the top rehabilitation research centres in the world. Today, Toronto Rehab has 476 patient beds across 5 sites, 115 dedicated physicians who care for thousands of patients with illness, injury or disability, and 46 out-patient clinics.

As the largest rehab center in the country, our goal is to build a completely new medical rehabilitation ecosystem that is interconnected, offering the ability to monitor and deliver the best rehab care possible anywhere in the world.” said Dr. Milos R. Popovic, Director of UHN’s KITE Research Institute. “We couldn’t do that without the help of our incredible community, and we’re so proud to be here as a team of researchers, scientists, clinicians and staff alongside our foundation colleagues to drive our work forward.”

The day was filled with fun and engaging activities for all ages, including a family-friendly warm-up session, live music, face paint, and an inspiring awards ceremony recognizing top fundraisers and teams. Attendees heard from individuals whose journeys of recovery were made possible through the generosity of donors, serving as a powerful reminder of the impact we can have when we come together as a community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us, donated, or volunteered to make this event such a tremendous success. Your support ensures that UHN can continue to provide exceptional care and develop ground-breaking rehabilitation programs that help patients rebuild their lives after illness or injury.
