An integral part of the UHN community, Nadir Mohamed passed away on September 19th after a lifetime of remarkable leadership in both business and philanthropy.
Nadir joined the UHN Foundation Board in 2016 and also served on the People and Culture Committee. He supported a number of initiatives including fundraising events such as Diwali and Stroke of Genius.
Appointed to the Order of Canada in 2019, he and his wife Shabin were some of the first supporters of UHN’s Canada Leads initiative launched earlier this year. Recently, they also established the Nadir and Shabin Mohamed Chair in Innovation in Team-Based Primary Care Research and made significant contributions to support leukemia care, research and education at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
“We will always be grateful for Nadir’s kindness, generosity and support of UHN. We will deeply miss his presence,” said UHN Foundation CEO Julie Quenneville.

No one ever changed the world on their own but when the bright minds at UHN work together with donors we can redefine the world of health care together.
