Dr. Wood’s research program at UHN explores the development of expertise in the health professions. As a cognitive psychologist, she is interested in the mental representation of diagnostic categories, how different forms of knowledge are used in problem-solving, and how education supports the cognitive architecture necessary for practice. The aim of her research is to fundamentally change how teachers and education researchers think about knowledge across the health profession in order to transform healthcare practice through education.

“I am thrilled to join the UIC. This is an amazing opportunity to bring science to the community and work together to change the future of healthcare.”
