Committing to a more inclusive, diverse, equitable, accessible and anti-racist workplace

In 2020, UHN Foundation established the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Working Group. The DEI Working Group was made up of passionate staff members from all departments, in any role at UHN Foundation looking to advance diversity, equity and inclusion priorities across the organization. They did this by working closely with our senior leadership team.

With strong support from our executive team, senior leadership and board members, the DEI Working Group was formalized and grew into the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Committee, before becoming the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Anti-racism (IDEAA) Committee. The IDEAA Committee’s goal is to create an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces diversity – one where all staff are included and feel a sense of belonging. We hope to be a driver in fostering organizational change through partnership with UHN Foundation staff.

UHN Foundation’s IDEAA Committee is pleased to share its purpose statement.

Our IDEAA Committee started working on the purpose statement in 2021, reviewing several other purpose statements to help shape our own. We’re excited to move forward with the work that needs to be done to achieve our vision.

Please know that establishing our purpose statement was the Committee’s first goal. We are in the process of exploring a number of initiatives to cultivate a more inclusive, diverse, equitable, accessible and anti-racist workplace. As this work is ongoing and constantly evolving, we commit to seeking out ways to improve our organization moving forward.
