Showcasing diversity of research and people

Toronto Rehab’s KITE scientists are spread out across the entire spectrum of rehabilitation and medical science, but the one thing they have in common is a dedication to improving the lives of the elderly and those living with injury and illness.

“We want to be the world-wide thought leader in the field of aging and rehabilitation,” says Dr. Milos R. Popovic, Director of KITE, Research Enterprise of the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – University Health Network.

“There is a tsunami coming for our health care system. Society is getting older and people are living longer. They will need access to the types of treatments and solutions we are creating and testing right now.”

KITE’s new promotional “I AM KITE” campaign is designed to put the focus on the people behind the incredible science at KITE.

“The demographics will demand KITE,” says Dr. Popovic. “We are trying to get ahead of the curve.”

Philanthropy plays a vital role in bolstering the infrastructure that Toronto Rehab requires to turn the ideas of our clinicians and scientists into home, community, and hospital-based advancements and innovations. Donors contribute to the physical equipment and facility requirements of our researchers while also helping fund their research studies and leverage further granting opportunities.

KITE is one of the principal research enterprises at the University Health Network (UHN), Canada’s top research hospital.
