In 2015, 60 years after Harold Halpern started importing wine through his Spadina Avenue pharmacy, his grandson Mr. Adam Halpern joined the family business, Halpern Enterprises, working closely with his father and uncle. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario in 2015 with plans for a career in investment banking, Adam made a pivotal choice to follow his true passion, returning to the family trade. Growing up surrounded by esteemed winemakers and tasting the world’s most prestigious wines, he cultivated an exceptional palate early on. Now, in tandem with his father and uncle, the passionate athlete and Burgundy aficionado oversees all operations, managing sales, logistics and allocations. More recently, embracing their entrepreneurial spirit, the family has ventured into the restaurant business with Shay in Rosedale and is exploring opportunities beyond.

Raised in a family where philanthropy is a core value, Adam inherited his father’s deep commitment to supporting UHN. This dedication to giving back is woven into his DNA, making his role on the UHN Foundation Board a natural extension of his personal and professional journey as he continues to advance in business and contribute to the community.
